The Scottish Podcast Awards have been featured in Ofcom’s Media Nations: Scotland 2026 report, just months after the inaugural Awards took place in Glasgow.
Published annually, Ofcom’s Media Nations report looks at key trends and developments across the UK’s media sector, with a dedicated report examining the media landscape in Scotland.
Ofcom’s annual industry report the Ofcom Media Nations Report is universally regarded as the gold standard for data on the UK’s broadcasting, telecommunications, and digital sectors.
Within the UK and among international analysts, the report is considered highly authoritative, non-partisan, and structurally essential to understanding the UK media landscape.
The 2026 Scotland report includes the launch of the first Scotland-specific Podcast Awards within its market developments, highlighting the inaugural event held in Glasgow on 25 June and our partnership with Spotify.
The report also recognises the reason the Awards were created-to showcase and elevate Scottish talent and creativity within podcasting, while celebrating content that reflects Scotland’s cultural output.
For us, its inclusion is a fantastic recognition of what was achieved in year one.
The inaugural Scottish Podcast Awards attracted more than 400 entries across 24 categories, brought together around 500 people at Glasgow’s Old Fruitmarket and involved more than 50 judges from across podcasting, broadcasting, production, journalism and the wider creative industries.
Since launching, Scottish Podcast Awards content has also generated approximately 6.5 million views across our social platforms, while our launch and Awards campaign delivered 2.5 million coverage views and media coverage with a potential audience of 94 million.
But the Awards were never intended to be just one night.
We’re now building on that first year through the SPA Creator Sessions, new industry collaborations and further opportunities to bring Scotland’s podcast community together, create connections and support the continued development of the sector.
To see the Scottish Podcast Awards included within a report documenting Scotland’s changing media landscape feels like an important moment for us, but also another sign of the growing profile of podcasting in Scotland.
And there is much more to come…
