Still Game legend Ford Kiernan, football favourites Si Ferry and Frank McAvennie, and funnyman Marc Jennings were among the big names gathering at The Social Hub Glasgow’s new playroom on Monday as nominees for the Spotify Listeners’ Choice Award at the inaugural Scottish Podcast Awards were announced.
The Spotify Listeners’ Choice Award will be decided entirely by public vote and features 13 of Spotify’s top-ranking Scottish podcasts.
The shortlisted podcasts are:
- A Celtic State of Mind
- A Lot on Your Plate
- A Pint and Two Shots
- Girls Overheard
- Go Radio Football Show
- Heart & Hand
- Let Me Be Frank
- Open Goal
- Some Laugh
- Superscoreboard
- The Ford & Shelby Show
- The Monday Club
- The STV Radio Football Show
Among those competing for votes are a mix of household names who have embraced the medium and creators who have become stars through podcasting itself.
Influencers Jess Tedds and Zoe Quinn, hosts of A Lot On Your Plate, joined comedians Marc Jennings and Stephen Buchanan of Some Laugh, and Shelby May, Ford Kiernan’s co-host on The Ford and Shelby Show at the Listeners’ Choice for the announcement.
Also shortlisted is Open Goal, fronted by former footballers Si Ferry, Paul Slane and Andy Halliday, which has grown from a niche football podcast into one of Scotland’s biggest live podcast success stories, selling out venues including the OVO Hydro and SWG3.
Voting for the Spotify Listeners’ Choice Award is now open and runs until midnight on the 8th June.
